Anchor and Windlass questions continued... - 2009/08/02 16:46
This is actually a re-post of my anchor/chain/windlass question in 2008. I've figured the gear that I need (275 feet 1/4" BBB chain, Lewmar V1 windlass, Lewmar 25 pound Claw anchor and some sort of anchor roller).
Now, all that equipment weighs about 225 pounds and will be in the bow. The good news is that I've installed a Monitor Wind vane and Radar with mast on the stern to kind of counter that weight. The fuel tank (12 gal) is under the starboard cockpit locker and I have a 2 cylinder 12hp Westerbeke engine.
Does anyone have any experience as to what this would do to my sailing characteristics or maybe I could contact Jeremy Rogers if I knew how...
BTW, I have a 1976 JJ Taylor Contessa 26.
