Help............Rigging and boom - 2009/08/28 16:34
I have just purchased a Contessa 26 and am very happy with it. Would like to get it out for a sail asp but....... I can't seem to figure out the boom hookup and the rigging for the sail and the traveller. The boom doesn't seem to have a block to prevent it from popping off of the mast. there is a fitting that seems to work - but if I use that part of it would rub the deck and it has way too much rope on it. So that doesn't seem right. As for the traveller - there is no hard traveller. There is a very length sheet with about five blocks on it. But that doesn't seem to make sense either. I have had a couple of very seasoned sailers look at this and we can't figure it out. Can anyone help? I can't ask the original owner. He is very elderly and not very well. If anyone can help I can send detailed pics.Tree tremarkel@yahoo.ca

Hello Tree

Could you post some pictures of the boom and traveller?

The UK Contessas have a different cockpit and traveller arrangement to the Canadian Contessas.

Guy.

Hi Guy, Have posted pics. It is an old fashioned rigging and several people are stumped. Any assistance would be great.

Hello Teresa

Thank you for the pictures!

I searched the Canadian/American Contessa website and found their gallery, amongst the pictures are some examples of your mainsheet arrangement.
