North Sea Rally update

The first Contessa 26 North Sea Rally took place over the weekend of 29 and 30 July on the Isslemeer, North Holland and despite some pretty awful wind and weather conditions was considered a great success. The wind took its toll with some of the uk boats declining the trip over just before the event.

Round the Island Race 2017

11 Contessa 26s entered the race this year. An excellent turn out. Conditions were pleasant and it was an unusually straightforward sail in a predominantly North to north west wind ranging from 8 to 16 kts but with some meaningful holes on the south and east sides of the island with the wind eventually settling late afternoon from the west. This enabled the fleet to reach and run as far as Bembridge Ledge and to return from there to Cowes on the wind.
These conditions tended to favour larger and longer waterline boats, but as usual there were some respectable Co 26  class and O/A finishing places achieved.

Classics week and racing update

Entries for the Nationals are coming in well, it seems to have become an established event now.

Thousand Knights and Jiminy Cricket sailed in Cowes Classics Week mid July and were second and first respectively in the Under 30 ft Classic Yacht class. A report will be in the Newsletter in the winter.

Racing update

A) National Championships 2017

Following on from a great 50th Anniversary Nationals last year, it would be great to see as many Contessa 26’s back on the water for the 2017 Nationals hosted by the Royal Southern Yacht Club. The nationals will be on the 9th and 10th September and yet again, it promises to be another competitive and social event.

Below is a link to the Notice of Race and Entry Forms on the Royal Southern Yacht Club website which gives full details of the Weekend's Racing and Social Functions;
